Boat and fjord tours – the best way to visit Norway

With more than 1,000 fjords in Norway, you will find it hard to visit this country without going on a fjord trip.

If you are asking yourself where the most beautiful fjords in Norway are, some people might answer the fjords in Western Norway as these are the most famous, but up here in Northern Norway, the fjords are just as gorgeous and will leave you wanting to see more!

We offer some of the best fjord cruises in Norway as well as other boat tours all year round in Tromsø, Senja, Lofoten and Lyngenfjord! With a choice of one-hour cruises, half-day tours and full-day tours, there’s something for every traveller!

Explore the fjords and waterways a thousand ways

We believe that the best way to see the fjords of Northern Norway is by boat!

Fjord cruises are a great way to relax and admire the landscapes full of beautiful mountains, islands, and picturesque Norwegian villages.

You can travel in modern comfort on board a hybrid electric catamaran, at a slower pace on a sailing boat, or on board an old wooden boat for an authentic experience.

For the more adventurous, you can opt for a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) tour and feel the adrenaline when the RIB picks up speed!

Kayaking trips at Sommarøy, “the summer island”, are also available (Summer 2023 available for online bookings soon).

Another way to experience the fjords around Tromsø and Lofoten is by minibus.

Your guide will make several photo stops along the way so you can take in the scenery and fill up your memories and camera!

They will also take portraits and landscape photos for you to take back home. If you are lucky, you might spot reindeer, moose, or white-tailed eagles!

If you wish to discover more of the inland, go to the Reisa National Park in summer and try one of the riverboat trips on the Reisa River to some of the most beautiful waterfalls in Norway.

Most of the fjords in Northern Norway remain ice-free thanks to the warming Gulf Stream, meaning you can explore them all year round!

In the summer, embark on an evening boat trip in Tromsø and soak up the golden light of the Midnight Sun, and from early September to late March, observe Lady Aurora during a Northern Lights cruise!

You can also join sightseeing tours, dinner cruises and fishing trips in Tromsø or the Lofoten islands.  All these trips give you the opportunity to learn more about Norwegian culture and history.
