Let us start with saying that Narvikfjellet will be the scene for  the awesome FIS Alpine Worls Ski Championship in 2029. This is the world’s second largest winter sports event after the Olympic Winter Games. Are you ready to try out these slopes already?

The view from Narvikfjellet‘s summit is one of skiing’s most breathtaking sights – pristine slopes that tumble down toward deep Norwegian fjords. This largest ski resort in Northern Norway stands about 120 meters above sea level, and the ski lifts take you up to 1006 meters above sea level. The mountain-to-fjord experience makes it different from your typical ski spots.

You’ll find 9.7 kilometers of slopes and 3.8 kilometers of ski routes that work for every skill level. Here’s what makes Narvikfjellet special:

  • Family-friendly slopes for beginners;
  • Technical runs for advanced skiers;
  • World-class off-piste areas;
  • Extensive backcountry access.

The resort’s modern setup is impressive with six lifts, where everyone can find their perfect fit on the mountain thanks to the terrain park and detailed ski rental facilities.

On top of that, Narvikfjellet has one of Scandinavia’s largest vertical drops. Off-piste enthusiasts love it here. The resort has nearly 100 high-quality ski touring peaks within an hour’s drive, which makes it a premier Arctic skiing destination.

Mid-March to mid-April offers the best skiing conditions. You get perfect snow, longer days, and comfortable temperatures during this time. The season runs from November to May, and each month brings something special – from night skiing under the Northern Lights in December to spring skiing in May.

The resort sits close to the city center, making it Norway’s most urban ski resort. Yet it keeps its wild Arctic character. Natural snowfall and artificial snowmaking work together to maintain excellent conditions throughout the season.

Exploring Levi: Finland's premier Arctic ski resort

Levi, Finland’s largest ski resort sits within the Arctic Circle. This winter playground rivals many Alpine destinations with its network of 43 slopes and 27 ski lifts.

The resort’s facilities will impress you. Two modern gondolas and multiple chairlifts make getting around easy. You’ll find great equipment rental services and seven restaurants right by the slopes. The ski schools have English-speaking instructors ready to help.

The resort’s terrain fits every skill level perfectly. All but one of these slopes are split between easy runs at 45% and intermediate challenges at 47%, while 8% are advanced trails. Families and mixed-ability groups love it here. The longest run stretches 2.5 kilometers – plenty of time to work on your technique.

Levi stands out with its night skiing experience. The resort lights up 25 kilometers of slopes after dark. Slopes stay bright until 7 PM each day, giving you extra time on the snow.

The Arctic Route bus connects Tromsø and Rovaniemi daily in winter. This makes getting to Levi simple, so you can focus on enjoying the slopes instead of dealing with winter driving.

Tromsø Alpine Ski Center

Want to experience winter excitement in Tromsø? A hidden gem awaits just 18 minutes from the city center. The Tromsø Alpine Ski Center is a special spot which gives you breathtaking views of the Norwegian fjord while city lights twinkle below.

Tromsø Alpine Ski Center is the nearest ski resort to the city. The resort caters to everyone – from first timers learning to navigate the snow to seasoned skiers searching for fresh powder. Four slopes with T-bar lifts provide plenty of options, and night skiing adds extra excitement.

A welcoming cabin with a warm fireplace makes this family-friendly destination perfect for locals and tourists. The resort’s thrilling night runs under the Arctic sky and family-friendly slopes for beginners create memorable experiences throughout the winter season.

Stunning views, varied terrain, and modern amenities make every visit worthwhile. The resort’s location, just 18 minutes from downtown Tromsø, lets you combine city exploration with mountain adventures.
