You can easily visit Sommarøy, even without a car. With the summer bus route between Tromsø and Sommarøy, you can comfortably travel between Tromsø and Sommarøy while enjoying a scenic coastal drive.
The route drives you through fjords, mountain landscapes, bridges and small Arctic village before arriving at the Sommarøy island. Along the way, the scenery constantly changes, offering endless photo opportunities from the bus window.
The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours each way and operates daily from 15 June until 23 August. Departures from Tromsø are at 08:45 (arrival 10:05) and 11:30 (arrival 13:10), while departures from Sommarøy are at 14:15 (arrival 16:00) and 19:10 (arrival 20:25). Please note that on Sundays there are no morning departure (08:45–10:05), so we recommend checking the timetable in advance to find the best option for your plans.
