It is suitable for day trips that can be combined with other evening activities in Tromsø.
On this spectacular Lyngen route, it is possible to stop off and try a wide range of activities. Dog sledding, ice-fishing, snowmobile safaris, ice-climbing or Sami cultural discovery, to name but a few, and not forgetting the world’s most northerly whiskey distillery, the Aurora Spirit Distillery.

Notice: The Arctic Routes takes you by bus from Tromsø center to Breivikeidet ferry quay. From Brevikeidet quay, you hop on the ferry to Svensby/Lyngen Alps to discover the beauty of the Lyngen Alps. The ferry is free for the Arctic Route passengers and takes up to 25 minutes. Further transport from Svensby at Lyngen Alps to the north or Lyngseidet is not included in the Arctic Route.

Breivikeidet (ferry)
Situated on the shores of the Lyngen Fjord, one of the highlights of Breivikeidet is its ferry connection, that offers a convenient and efficient mode of transportation for both locals and tourists alike. Operated by Troms Fylkestrafikk, it connects the village with Svensby on the other side of the fjord. The ferry ride itself is a memorable experience, as it allows passengers to soak in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, fjords, and Arctic wilderness.
The ferry operates year-round and offers regular departures, making it easy for visitors to plan their trips and explore the region at their own pace. The journey across the fjord takes approximately 20 minutes, during which passengers can relax and enjoy the scenic beauty around them.
Svensby (Lyngen Alps)
Svensby is a charming village located in the heart of the Lyngen Alps in Northern Norway. This picturesque village is known for its natural beauty, outdoor activities, and friendly locals who welcome visitors with open arms. The village serves as a gateway to the Lyngen Alps and is easily accessible by ferry from Breivikeidet. Two of the most popular activities in Svensby are snowmobile tours and dog sledding.
