Tromsø’s airport (TOS) is busiest in winter: the Northern Lights season draws visitors and several international carriers operate direct services or seasonal charters between October 2025 and March 2026. In this compact guide, you will find a list to the main direct international connections to Tromsø (airlines, typical weekdays/frequencies and the rough scheduling pattern), plus how most visitors connect via Oslo.

Tromsø, often called the “Gateway to the Arctic”, is one of Europe’s most searched winter destinations. Between October 2025 and March 2026, the city will welcome thousands of visitors eager to chase the Northern Lights, enjoy Arctic adventures such as whale watching, dog sledding, snowmobile and fjord tours, and experience Sami culture. Getting there is easier than ever, with a mix of direct international flights and frequent connections via Oslo.

Flights between Tromsø and London – British Airways, EasyJet, Norwegian

London remains one of the strongest gateways to Northern Norway:

  • British Airways (LHR–TOS): Operating a seasonal winter schedule, BA will fly from Heathrow with multiple weekly departures. In past years the service ran twice weekly, and for winter 2025/26 frequencies are expected to expand. Departures are typically midweek and weekends.
  • EasyJet (LGW–TOS): EasyJet keeps a weekly Gatwick service, often departing on weekends (Fridays and Mondays), making it easy for UK travelers to plan long weekends under the Aurora.
  • Norwegian (LGW–TOS): Norwegian also runs a weekly Gatwick rotation, giving even more flexibility for UK visitors.

Flights between Tromsø and Stockholm – Scandinavian Airline (SAS)

For travelers from Sweden, SAS offers a direct Stockholm Arlanda – Tromsø route. The connection is scheduled multiple times per week, and in peak periods nearly daily. With morning and afternoon departures, it’s a convenient way for Swedes or other international travels coming from here, to head north for a weekend getaway or a longer Arctic holiday.

Flights between Tromsø and Helsinki – Finnair

Finnair includes Tromsø in its Nordic network, connecting Northern Norway directly to Helsinki. Expect several weekly flights across the winter months, often timed to allow onward long-haul connections via HEL. This makes Tromsø accessible not only for Finnish travelers but also for passengers from Asia or North America connecting through Helsinki.

Flights between Tromsø and Zurich – Edelweiss

Swiss visitors can take advantage of Edelweiss’ Zurich – Tromsø service. This is a seasonal leisure flight, typically operating on Saturdays during peak months. Designed for winter tourism, it caters perfectly to travelers looking for a week in the Arctic or shorter adventure holidays.

Flights between Tromsø and Milan – EasyJet & Norwegian

Italy is joining the Arctic travel boom with new direct links from Milan.

  • easyJet (MXP – TOS): Flies from Milan Malpensa about twice weekly, with departures ranging from midday to evening depending on the date.
  • Norwegian (BGY – TOS): Offers additional direct service from Milan Bergamo, in some periods close to daily. Morning departures are common, giving passengers the chance to arrive in Tromsø by early afternoon.

These routes open up Tromsø to northern Italian travelers eager for snow and Northern Lights, as well as to other international flyers flying via Italy.

Flights between Tromsø and Rome – Neos

Starting in mid-January 2026, Italian carrier Neos will launch direct flights between Rome Fiumicino and Tromsø. This is a major boost for southern European visitors and the the first time Rome will enjoy such a strong direct Arctic link.

Flights between Tromsø and Berlin (BER) – several airlines

Tromsø offers direct, non-stop flights to Berlin, operated by Eurowings, Norwegian Air Shuttle, and EasyJet.

For Eurowings, these non-stop flights are scheduled to begin around late November 2025. The route typically operates about three times per week on carriers such as Eurowings, providing travelers with convenient options to and from Germany. The flight time for this direct connection is approximately 3 hours and 5 minutes, making Berlin easily accessible from northern Norway.

Flights between Tromsø and Gdańsk (GDN) – Wizz Air

Tromsø is connected directly to Gdańsk (GDN) through Wizz Air, which operates non-stop flights on this route. The service runs about twice per week, specifically on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with a flight time of roughly 2 hours and 45 minutes to 2 hours and 55 minutes.

Flights between Tromsø and Munich – Norwegian

Travelers from southern Germany will soon have a new and convenient way to reach the Arctic. Starting 26 October 2025, Norwegian Air Shuttle will operate direct flights between Tromsø (TOS) and Munich (MUC). The route is scheduled to run twice per week, with departures on Thursdays and Sundays, continuing throughout the winter season until the end of March 2026.

The flight time is just under three and a half hours, making it an easy weekend or holiday getaway for German visitors eager to experience the Northern Lights, dog sledding, and other Arctic adventures. For travelers from Tromsø, this new connection also opens up quick access to Bavaria and southern Germany.

This is a significant boost for tourism on both ends of the route, and a welcome option for anyone planning to combine city life in Munich with Arctic landscapes in Tromsø.

Flights between Tromsø and Paris – several airlines

Tromsø is connected directly to Paris through multiple airlines. Air France, Norwegian, and easyJet operate non-stop flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG). The flight time for this route is approximately 3 hours and 50 minutes. For example, Air France flight AF1221 departs Tromsø around 14:50 and arrives at CDG around 18:40, a schedule effective from 28 October 2025. Norwegian also offers non-stop flights to Paris, with some departures early in the day, around 07:00, on select weekdays.

In addition, Transavia France operates a direct flight from Tromsø to Paris Orly (ORY) once per week. The flight time is slightly longer at approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes, reflecting the greater distance to Orly compared with CDG.

These direct connections make Paris easily accessible from Tromsø, whether you’re traveling for business, leisure, or to continue onward to other destinations in France or Europe.

Flights between Tromsø and Dublin – Aer Lingus

Starting December 3, 2025, Aer Lingus will launch a direct route between Dublin (Ireland) and Tromsø (Norway) (twice weekly), and will run it until 25 March 2026 — the winter season. This is the first direct connection between Tromsø and Ireland, serving as a hub with its transatlantic network, especially for travellers from North America.

Flights between Tromsø and Oslo – The gateway hub

Even if your city doesn’t offer a non-stop flight, Oslo provides the key connection point. Both SAS and Norwegian operate multiple daily Oslo–Tromsø services, often more than ten per day in peak winter. This makes it simple to arrive from anywhere in Europe or beyond and continue north the same day.

For travelers from Spain, France, Germany, or North America, routing via Oslo is often the fastest and most reliable option.

The winter 2025/26 season is shaping up to be one of Tromsø’s busiest yet. With direct flights such as from London, Stockholm, Helsinki, Zurich, Milan, and Rome, plus seamless connections via Oslo, reaching the Arctic has never been easier.

Whether you’re flying in for a weekend Aurora chase, a week of Arctic exploration, or a longer holiday, the new and expanded flight options make Tromsø one of Europe’s most accessible winter wonderlands.
